PALLISER
Originally built in the 1980s, this home boasted a strong structural foundation but was in need of a comprehensive refresh to align with today's styles and functionality.
It presented a combination of outdated carpet, yellowed linoleum, and dated tiles, while all the woodwork retained a golden oak hue, and dated wallpaper graced many of the walls. Furthermore, the original light fixtures throughout the home were not only outdated but also lacked energy efficiency.
Despite these dated elements, the homeowner had an appreciation for the traditional aspects of the home, particularly the curved staircase and vintage railing, which they wished to preserve during the remodel. Another characteristic of homes from that era was the sunken living room on the main floor, which necessitated railings and disrupted the flow of the space.
The renovation was an extensive undertaking, with a fixed budget. Still, the team managed to find creative solutions to update every area of the home. They revitalized the original railing, introduced new flooring, and brought the sunken living room to the same level as the rest of the main floor.
The kitchen received a complete transformation, featuring custom cabinetry, modern lighting, contemporary fixtures, and the addition of a stunning butler's pantry. The master ensuite was entirely revamped, including new tile floors and backsplash, a dual sink vanity, a freestanding soaker tub, and a custom frameless glass tile shower. The lower level was refreshed with new flooring, paint, an entertainment wall unit, and a new bedroom.
This remodel breathed new life into the home, seamlessly blending the charm of its original elements with the contemporary design and functionality expected today. It's a true testament to how a well-planned renovation can revitalize a home and meet the demands of modern living.
